Christ Healing the Blind

Christ reaches toward the kneeling blind man before him, watched by a dense crowd of witnesses beneath a grand architectural setting of colonnades and porticos. Domenikos Theotokopoulos, known as El Greco, painted the canvas about 1570, at the end of his years in Venice, where he had absorbed the lessons of Titian and Tintoretto; the picture is his most ambitious surviving work from that period. It is one of the great Spanish paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
