Primavera

Primavera (Spring) is Sandro Botticelli’s celebrated allegory of the season, painted for the Medici family in Florence. In a flowering orange grove, Venus presides over a graceful company that includes the Three Graces, Mercury, Chloris, Flora, and a blindfolded Cupid. Rich in humanist and Neoplatonic symbolism, it remains one of the most studied and beloved paintings of the Early Renaissance.
