Jan van Huysum was one of the last great Dutch flower and landscape painters, active in Amsterdam in the early eighteenth century. His landscape paintings represent the twilight of the Dutch Golden Age tradition, combining the meticulous observation of earlier masters with a lighter, more decorative sensibility that anticipated the Rococo.
